Goodbye.

Dear Listeners,

After 3 enjoyable years of doing the Bob and Rob Show, our podcast will end this September. Thank you so much for being a part of our community.

Bob has received a new job in southern Japan, and because of the distance from Tokyo, it will be impossible for us to continue doing the show. (We did consider trying to use Skype, but decided that it would not be practical.)

We really enjoyed getting to know so many interesting people throughout the world. We hope
that we were able to make your English learning endeavors just a bit more interesting and enjoyable; it certainly was a great experience for us.

To your success,
Bob and Rob

From selfishness, I would say I’m so sad to hear this but the truth is that I’m happy for you Bob.

It’s a pity you guys won’t be able to continue with this GREAT experience that is ‘The B&R show’. For me has been a real pleasure to listen all your shows and now I can say loudly and proudly… hehe, no, I wasn’t thinking about Monty Python ;) Seriously: I’m glad to say to you that you made and will make (because I’ve got a lot to learn yet) my English better. I have learned a lot of vocabulary, daily speech and so forth but also, that US and UK are basically the same thing, but the English.

THANK YOU chaps for all your support, encouraging us to learn more and good luck with all your projects from now on.

From Spain, deeply and truly: I’ll miss you but won’t forget what you’ve done for me.

    Cheers!

  4. Darren Chang Says:

    Dear Bob and Rob,
It’s so pity to know you guys made this decision.
Your show is one of the best online English-teaching programmes that I knew from my Japanese friend in UK.
As an Taiwanese who has been educated in American English, your show did help me get familiar to both American and British English accent when I was doing master course in UK.
I’m really sorry this show will be terminated in September.
Thanks for last few years you two made a so spectacular show benefiting a lot of non-English speakers.
You guys do make a good job and I appreciate it very much.
    Thank you again.

    Best regards,

    Darren

  5. Marta Says:

    Dear Bob and Rob,
I’m writing from Rome (Italy), I was thinking to write you an email beacause I spend my last three weeks in Japan and I want thank you about all the informations that you gave us about japanese culture but I have found the message about your closing time!!! I’m sad for this, but I would like to tell you your lessons have been very useful for my english, I have learned a lot of new words, and now I’m able to understand more when I talk with people!!!
Thank you very much and good luck for all!

    Marta

  6. Sab Says:

    Hi B&R,

    I can’t believe it! That’s sooo sad! :-(

I started listening to your show in its early beginning, when I was preparing a test to be admitted to a Uni in the UK.
I passed my test and went there, but kept downloading the show ’cause I was always learning something new from you and enjoying your chats, too.
I completed my MsC and went back, but am still listening to your podcast on a regular basis on my way to my office ’cause time flies with you (it takes 30′ on foot, so I always have my mp3 player with me).

You’ve accompanied me for nearly three years; you’ve made me smile and cheered me up and have also helped me practise my listening skills… THANK YOU!!! I’ll miss you a lot!

I wish you all the success you deserve. Cheers!

  7. Patrick Says:

Reading this makes me sad. I had just decided to subscribe to your show and believe me, I’ve never heard any podcast better than yours. It’s enjoyable and smart and you can’t realize how your thought and your feelings come across in your comments.
Bob, I used to play Jazz and like many people in the world I saw so many American movies when I was young that I couldn’t help being fascinated by the worse and the best of your native country. That made me decided to study English. I like your way of speaking and your comments on people and life.
Rob, like you I like climbing and I can’t spend my summer vacation without going in the Alps. But this is not the only thing I share with you. I couldn’t agree more on your biting remarks about society and capitalism.
You are both the kind of people I’d like to meet.
    I’ll miss you

  8. Stephen He Says:

Reading this post and other listener fellows comments has almost brought out my tears. You never know what you’ve got until you say goodbye.
It’s been such an enjoyable experience listening to your shows, definitely, the BEST English podcast show in the world. You guys always make me laugh when Bob makes fun of Rob, Bob’s narrative for grammar blue, i’m feeling down……, Rob looks down at American English, and unique British humour….You guys also enlighten me a lot on many issues, such as conspiracy theory, politics, social taboos, international marriage etc. (of all episodes, my favorites are ‘the F word’ and ‘Shoot’:))
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your shows and my great, sincere appreciation for everything you’ve done for us, my dear teacher, Bob and Rob. I wish you and your families all the best, see you later!

  9. Marcin Says:

You are my favorite podcast, the one I can listen to and don’t get bored. Some of your shows I’ve listened couple of times and it works for me really well. When I was in UK it turned out how helpful this podcast is. It’s sad that there will be no Bob and Rob Show anymore. Sorry for my poor English :)

  10. Bob Says:

    Dear Listeners,

Thanks so much for your kind comments! It really makes me happy to know we were able to make your English studies more enjoyable.

    Bob

  11. Marzena Says:

What can I say… I just got on this website to download some new episodes of The Bob & Rob show and I found this sad news:(
I’m very sorry that you guys have decided not to continue the show. It was really awesome!!! I have to say - I have recently passed the CAE exam, got a big fat B:)))) And it was thanks to your show, too. Helped me especially with vocabulary, listening and speaking.
I’m hoping maybe you two get back together once in a while and make some holiday extra episode - maybe for Christmas;)

Bob, I wish you all the best at your new job.

    M

  12. Arnis Says:

  14. Emi Says:

It’s so sad to hear this show will end so soon. I really love the unique shows like “F words” etc.
I was using a lot of new vocub from this show when talking to my American boyfriend. He was
so impressed and i loved seeing his reaction. He is the guy who does not use slangs much.
So I sometimes sounds more American! I would like to say thank you so much for all your efforts to
continue more than 100 shows. I never missed any single one. And wish you best of luck in future.
    Emi

  15. Matteo Says:

I will miss you, You were great for my english and you were also so funny!
    Ciao Roberto, grazie di tutto!
Thanks Bob and good luck for the new job!
    Domo arigato!

  16. I say, you say, he she it Says:

Come on you guys, please stop kidding! You really give up podcasting?! You can’t be serious!

Just want to let you know that, within the last 3 years, the two of you have become a regular part of my everyday life. So, for instance you used to accompany me on my way to work, or in my free time, e.g. on vacation or during sport. Even at night when i couldn´t sleep and in many other situations. You know what, even household chores like vacuuming the floor and so forth can become quite enjoyable if one listens to your show through headphones simultaneously ;-)
Believe it or not, but your show`s almost like a pal to me, capable of cheering me up quite easily and just at the touch of a button.
Now, you probably understand that`s really tough to accept your decision, though i`m afraid i have to. Well then, i guess there is nothing more to say than many many thanks for your sensational and unique show. It was a cool time, just as entertaining as instructive! I wish you all the very best!

  17. Igor, Ukraine Says:

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the great work done during past years! Definitely a sad (for permanent listeners) news.

BTW: have you tried any SIP clients, they actually much better then Skype in terms of option to record voice or even video of your conversation, and tehre is no such limits in number of attendees. I am prety sure that your listeners would appreciate even rare “inpractical” skype-quality show recordings! :-)
Keep it up & Never say never!
    :-) Thanks again!
    Igor

    Hi Bob and Rob,

I hope you guys still remember me. We met in March 2007 at the Wireless Ready convention in Nagoya. I was the researcher from Taiwan who used your podcasts in my classes.

I swung by your site today because I will be making another presentation this Saturday at Kagoshima (I’m here for a one-year exchange, yay!) and am planning to introuduce your wonderful site to the audience. I am really sad to learn that you are no longer producing podcasts. But, I guess it is inevitable. Do make special podcasts when you get together, though!

I hope to hear from you! And, if you ever swing by Kagoshima, come attend our event!

Thank you for all previously released podcasts. I really enjoyed them. You did very well teaching both sides of the pond, that was great.

I’d appreciate if you could send a short mail or advertise on another podcast (e.g. ESLPod) when you plan to continue. Maybe you’ll get a chance to do that in the future.

Again, thank you very much for having me a great time listening to you.

It´s so sad know that this show finish, but I ca n´t accept it. Your work is worthy because it´s funny and practical.
Please think about this marvelous time when you two record for a big audience across the world.
What about trying to re-start the show. Long distance call, skype. It´s 20 minutes on the phone very expensive?

You two have done a great job. Congratulations and I hope to hear about you two very soon.

    All the best for now
